Brazillian striker Bobo added another individual award to his trophy case on Saturday night, being crowned the A-League player of the year at Sydney FC’s end of season awards night.

His second season with the club was one to remember as he netted 27 goals in the league, as well as eight in the FFA Cup, including the winner in the final.

The Brazilian shattered the record for the most goals by a single player in an A-League season, as Sydney romped to their second successive premiership, before being upset by Melbourne Victory in the semi-finals.

“I’m very honoured to be named player of the year,” he said. “I would like to thank all my team mates for their support this season, they have made it a very enjoyable season and have all played a part in these awards.

“I’m very excited now for the journey ahead and what’s in store. We have a very strong squad again and it will only get stronger, we are all very confident of more success.”

The top W-League award went to Matildas young gun Chloe Logarzo, who helped steer Sydney to the grand final, where they lost to Melbourne City 2-0.

“I was not expecting this award at all, I’m over the moon,” Logarzo said. “We had a great squad this year, everyone put in when it mattered and that showed with another finals appearance for Sydney FC.

“The ending wasn’t what we had in mind, but we’re all confident of going one better in season 2018-19.”

Adrian Mierzejewski took out the members’ player of the year award, Jeremy Cox was named under-20 player of the year and Marco Tilio became the first rising star award winner following his progression through the Sydney’s academy.

Sydney FC kit manager Trudi Johnston received the chairman’s award.
